Why I Became a Personal Trainer - and What Health Really Means to Me

When I first got into fitness, it was because I grew up around it; everyone in my family worked out or played sports. I thought being "healthy" was just going to the gym and lifting heavy weights. Over time, I realized true health isn't just about how much you lift or how you look in the gym—it's about how you feel when you move through your everyday life.


For me, health is about feeling good about yourself and your body, waking up without pain, and having energy for the people you love and want to be around. There is no perfect way of getting there and that means something different to everyone. This process might not be perfect, but it is yours and I believe that is the most important part.


That belief is what inspired Health By Mak.

The Realization


Like many people, I once pursued the idea of health the wrong way. I tried to copy what I was seeing on social media, whether that was my workouts themselves or the food I was eating. I thought that if I copied what everyone was doing around me, I was going to get the same results. I wasn't consistent with anything and I just did what I felt suited me that day.


I quickly learned that this wasn't doing anything for me. I was unhappy with working out and I felt like I was just going in circles with my food. I was also dealing with a lot of back pain on top of all of this.


So I took a step back and asked myself: "What if I created something that works for me instead of trying to copy someone else's health journey."


That question completely changed how I saw health.

What Health By Mak Stands For


When I created Health By Mak, I wanted to build more than a training business - I wanted to build a space where people could reconnect with their bodies and redefine what health means to them.


My philosophy centers around intentional living - moving with purpose, nourishing your body, and building strength that supports your life beyond the gym. Most importantly, creating a system that works for YOU!


Whether you are overcoming pain, rebuilding confidence, or simply wanting to feel better in your own skin, my goal is to help you make long-term changes you can live with to move and live better.

Health Isn't a One Size Fits All


Health is how you show up—for yourself, your family, your work, and your life. To someone that could mean, being strong enough to carry your own groceries in the house or climbing up the stairs without pain. To others it could mean lifting heavy weights with confidence you won't have back pain afterwards.


Health is an individual journey - and no journey is the same.
